This kind of
Cylindrical Buoys with Soft-Skin are mainly made for general-purpose
applications, rather than a specialized area of work.
Their Soft-Skin and foam
core makes them similar to Foam-Filled Fenders, which are also buoyant, and
makes these buoys particularly safe and resistant against collisions with ships
or other maritime objects.
NOTE: Weight in kg. Measurements in mm.
These are our standard dimensions, after product customization deviation margins might apply.

Cylindrical Buoys, being a multi-purpose type of buoy, can be useful in an infinite range of buoyancies, depending on the intended applications. Our standard sizes begin at just 100 kg or 0.1 Tons of Buoyancy, being less than half a meter in diameter; and typically would range up to 500 kg, or half (0.5) a Ton, at 700 mm dia. Smaller All-Purpose buoys can be manufactured without a problem, in this special Polyurethane Soft Skin variety, or in our other hard shell or still construction types. These smaller models are typically used in fish farms, for aquaculture applications such as support buoyancy, or even moorings, but thanks to their versatile design they can become a crucial component of virtually any kind of maritime system. These smaller sizes can also be simply used as marker buoys, serving a perfect fit for this application.

Ranging between 1 and 2.5 Tons we offer our "Medium" sizes, these are most commonly used as Hose or Rope Pickup Buoys in the Offshore, but can also be used as support buoys in Aquaculture environments such as fish farms. They are around one meter (1 m) in diameter, and are typically manufacturer almost 2 meters long. Especially for offshore applications, Osaka Industry offers customized pad eyes to ensure compatibility with the specific connectors used on the chain, cable, or other structure.

Also extremely popular, our larger sizes of our cylindrical All Purpose Buoys range between 3 and 6 tons of net buoyancy, and are manufactured between 1 meter and almost 1.5 meters in diameter for the standard sizes. They are relatively larger than our other offered "Medium" sizes, but can be used in the same environments and applications both in the Offshore and Aquaculture, but with the capacity to support larger structures. They are manufactured using our special Soft Skin, which provides the robustness and "Unsinkability" so useful in the Offshore Oil & Gas industry. For projects that require larger buoyancies, such as 50 tons or more, we would recommend our special Heavy-Duty buoys, such as our Anchor Pendant Buoys, or our specialized Mooring Buoys, that are able to achieve greater buoyancies and are specialized for the tasks required.

Offshore Industry Compliance:
We offer true End to End certification. Our buoys are inspected, tested and certified to follow the requirements from our clients, achieving suitability even on challenging industries such as Offshore Oil & Gas or the emerging Offshore Wind. The certification of our buoys is not limited to this industry in specific, we are able to meet the requirements of aquaculture, general projects, or any specific industry where they are going to be used.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance:
At Osaka Industry we follow strict processes to achieve the high standard of quality of our products. Our management follows the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, which cover the different stages of our contracts from design to distribution. Furthermore, our certificates are issued with the data gathered from independent testing and inspection, this way Osaka aims to provide objective results. These independent tests are conducted in specialized facilities, with calibrated high-end laboratory equipment, which is superior to ever more common plain or improvised "in-house" testing that is known to be deceiving in certain scenarios.

Adjusting Standard Soft Skin Cylindrical Buoys:
Cylindrical Buoys are generally used for multi-purpose applications, we have selected a range of sizes that is most commonly used within our industry. These sizes are the most demanded for different operations, from very small to large scale. These "standard" sizes are easily adjusted, achieving a nearly infinite number of sizes in between, of different lengths or widths, tailored to suit your project requirements.
Purchasing Custom Cylindrical Buoyancy:
Further tailoring is available, Osaka Industry offers full control over the materials used inside the buoy, the composition of its different layers, its weight and density, and the adjustment of a full range of other parameters as desired by the customer.
Know What to Avoid:
Unmodifiable or "Fixed" sets of sizes are an indicator of a low-end supplier, or at least not a true vertically integrated manufacturer. Osaka Industry offers both fully tailored buoys, as well as customizable standard sizes that can be adjusted to perfection. Furthermore, proper custom designs are backed by experience and expertise. Osaka Industry has its own dataset with all the history, results and variables involved on our previous contracts with customers, which is fundamental to review the decision-making process in true custom buoyancy design, in order to avoid issues and achieve the high quality results that we specialize on. Without a specialized dataset or experience designing a custom buoy resembles more guessing and gambling than engineering, and puts at risk your maritime operations. This is why our advice is that while you may compare prices between suppliers, also compare their experience, and whether it is explicitly backed by objective statements, such as an elaborate dataset.

Superior design is only half of the process to achieve quality cylindrical buoys, you also need quality materials. At Osaka Industry we employ materials that are used as an industry standard, such as materials that follow ISO or ASTM requirements. This way we have an accurate overview of their chemical and mechanical properties, allowing the buoys behavior and suitability to be studied before manufacture. Our superior quality is such that our buoys meet requirements so strict such as the US Coastguard requirements.
Rigid Internal Core:
The core of our cylindrical buoys is a solid, extremely rigid steel internal core. This component is designed to last, and to withstand the forces of the rest of the mooring chain or the line that it is connected to, which may be subject to severe mechanical stress, which is why it is fundamental to ensure the quality of the core of the buoy.
Enclosed Foam Core:
Surrounding the steel core is the foam core, which is hard and buoyant, helping set the steel rod in a fixed position even when subject to stress or impacts.
Bonding Foam Layer:
The Bonding Foam Layer is also buoyant, but flexible. This is the bond between the core and the outer layer, and acts also as a protective layer, which absorbs impact forces while providing flotation to the buoy, and helps recover its shape even if deformation were to occur in extreme conditions.
Outer Soft Skin:
This is the most exposed component of the buoy, and it is crafted with highly resistant filaments which are arranged like a fabric, to achieve Osaka's very specialized mechanical properties for this layer, and are then wrapped around the ends, and covered in a highly treated coating, making it shiny, beautiful, and durable.
